São Rafael beach

São Rafael Beach is a 5-minute drive from the city of Albufeira and 120 minutes from Lisbon.

A quiet beach, surrounded by beautiful cliffs that protect it from strong winds. It has calm, clear waters and is considered by many to be one of the most stunning beaches in the Algarve, if not in Portugal.

São Rafael beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the municipality of Albufeira. Its beach is framed by the cliffs and the ocean, which results in a welcoming and tranquil sand, where several imposing rock formations are manifested. This is a result of erosion caused by the ocean and rain.

And when the water's transparency allows, we can distinguish the outline of underwater rocks. They protect the rich marine life of this abundant underwater world that adventurous divers can discover.

São Rafael beach is certified as Blue Flag Beach and Gold Quality Beach, due to its environmental quality and marine biodiversity.

Villa Albuar, Villa Brigida and Villa Oceano from AlbuarVillas.com are 750 meters from this beach.

Where to eat in Albufeira

In addition to the mild climate, beaches and internationally recognized golf courses, Albufeira also has a rich gastronomy.

Here, fish and seafood owe their freshness to the presence of the sea and the long fishing tradition. Enjoy a unique and varied gastronomic experience and try some of our regional dishes: fish and seafood stew, cataplana clams, tuna with onion, grilled sardines, octopus rice and chicken piri piri.

You should also not miss the opportunity to visit the county at the time of the different gastronomic events that take place throughout the year and immerse yourself in the huge variety of regional cuisine. The Guia Frango Festival and the Sardine Festival are both held in August.

The Fishermen's Festival on the first weekend of September and the Gastronomy Festival at the end of the same month are two of the best known.

If you prefer, you can also try the finest Portuguese and international cuisine in the different restaurants in the county.

Albufeira old town

There are two main features in Albufeira.

One is the beauty of its beaches and the other is its nightlife. Stroll along the Strip or downtown, dine at one of the area's many restaurants or dance the night away at its clubs and bars.

Albufeira's nightlife is well known in the Algarve. Albufeira is one of the main tourist destinations in Portugal. Here you will find bars and restaurants, pubs and many nightclubs that stay open until dawn.

The main nightlife areas are the Old Town and The Strip.

The main attraction of the historic center is the main square and the fishermen's square, where there are many bars and restaurants.

There are good restaurants in the historic area, the bet is on the most traditional Portuguese seafood. In summer, the squares come alive at night, with live entertainment, music and revelers. Away from the main square, there are narrow, winding cobblestone streets filled with cafes, restaurants and market stalls, and small shops selling local crafts and gifts. Many of these streets are pedestrian-only and can be quite narrow and unsuitable for cars.
